Cricket

AIMA cricket is a yearly event. It is organized by the AIMA executive committee every year. The cricket tournament is the most sort after AIMA community sports event and is considered the “flagship sporting event of the association”.

AIMA cricket event started in 2017. In 2017, it was only an outdoor cricket event. It has now evolved over the years and now there are two formats, Outdoor and Indoor.

This year as cricket fever grips AIMA members we have introduced women’s indoor cricket tournament.

In 2017, 2018 and 2019 the outdoor cricket event was played between two teams, General Practitioner and Specialists.

2022 Year

This year we had the fantastic, amazing, unbelievable and outstanding AIMA Indoor Cricket Tournament, with 6 men's teams and 4 women’s teams have played on the 26th of June 2022 at Leeming Strikers indoor sports arena which was a whole day event. It was very colorful AIMA family event, the event was attended by family members and friends. All teams wore AIMA merchandise branded T shirts.

For second "Dr Padmini Maurice Peters trophy" 4 women's team have played. The women's indoor cricket final was between the Western Willows and Desi Scorchers. The tough contest was won by the Western Willows.

For second "Founding President Dr Paddy Ramanathan cup" 6 men's teams have played. The men's final was fiercely fought between Psychy life savers (red) and Super Sixers. Super Sixers were the eventual winners.

2021 Year

AIMA committee has organised Indoor cricket tournament on the 10th of October 2021 at Striker Indoor Sports and Fitness complex, 55 Farrington Rd, Leeming WA 6149. This will be an all-day event. This year we have 8 men's teams and 5 women’s teams. A total of 110 AIMA family members will be playing on the 10th of October 2021 at Leeming Strikers indoor sports arena. This will be the largest sports gathering in the history of AIMA. This year we have launched AIMA merchandise – AIMA Branded T-Shirts and caps. The aim of AIMA merchandise is to show strength, solidarity, build AIMA image and raise money for charity and to donate towards AIMA house.   There will be several trophies given this year for both Men’s and Women’s events. AIMA committee has this year introduced two new trophies.
  1. Founding President – Dr. Paddy Ramanathan Cup for the winning Men’s Indoor cricket team.
  2. Dr. Padmini Maurice Peters Cup for the winning Women’s Indoor cricket team.
  Apart from winning team trophies there will be Runners-up, Player of the Series, Player of the match, Batter of the series and Bowler of the series awards.   This year the following teams are participating.

This year we had the largest sports gathering in the history of AIMA, with 8 men's teams and 5 women’s teams in total 108 AIMA family members have played on the 10th of October 2021 at Leeming Strikers indoor sports arena which was a whole day event. It was very colourful AIMA family event, the event was attended by nearly 200 AIMA family members and friends. All teams wore AIMA merchandise branded T shirts. The aim of AIMA merchandise is to show strength, solidarity, build AIMA image and raise money for charity. We have named Women’s AIMA indoor cricket trophy in memory of late Dr Padmini Peter as “Dr Padmini Maurice Peters trophy”. 5 women’s team have played for Dr Padmini Maurice Peters cup. The women’s indoor cricket final was between the Western Willows and Desi Scorchers. The tough contest was won by the Desi Scorchers. Women’s Indoor Cricket tournament 2021 Winners:

Men’s AIMA indoor cricket tournament cup was named as “Founding President Dr Paddy Ramanathan cup”. 8 men’s teams played for the Founding President Dr Paddy Ramanathan cup.
